Abstract

The roles that the healthcare workers play in the diagnostic process and error reduction are crucial as they affect the patient’s outcome. With the ongoing development of the healthcare system in Saudi Arabia under the Vision 2030, the roles of the nurses, technicians, and other healthcare workers have become more essential. This paper aims at discussing the various aspects of the roles of the healthcare workers in the diagnostic process, the system barriers that they encounter and possible evidence based solutions to the barriers. To enhance the patient safety, the operational efficiency and the public perception of the healthcare system in Saudi Arabia, must address the issues of fragmented communication, insufficient inter-disciplinary cooperation, and under-investment in technology.
