Abstract

The conservation of mangrove ecosystems is critical due to their ecological role in coastal protection and biodiversity. This study presents the development and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms for automated monitoring of biodiversity in the mangroves of the coastal coast of Riohacha, La Guajira, Colombia. Using advanced computer vision and deep learning techniques, it was possible to identify key species and evaluate critical parameters such as plant density and the presence of fauna. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithms in detecting changes in the ecosystem, providing innovative tools for the management and conservation of these habitats. This approach represents a sustainable and scalable solution to the challenges of climate change and anthropogenic pressure.
