Abstract

This research investigates the significance of cultural competence in nursing, emphasizing its necessity in providing effective care in today’s multicultural healthcare environment. It explores the definition, importance, challenges, and strategies for implementing cultural competence, highlighting its role in enhancing patient-centered care, improving health outcomes, and reducing health disparities. Through a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with nurses, the study identifies common barriers to cultural competence, including lack of awareness, limited knowledge, and language barriers. Findings reveal that while many nurses perceive their cultural competence as moderate to high, challenges persist. The research concludes with practical recommendations for healthcare organizations to foster cultural competence, ensuring that nursing practices are responsive to the diverse needs of patients.
