Chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases are the major challenges in public health around the world. Preventive strategies would lower the burden of disease, improve the quality of life, and reduce healthcare costs. This review will discuss the role that the different medical specialties, such as Family Medicine, General Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Epidemiology, have in the prevention of chronic diseases. We emphasize the need for collaboration across disciplines in pursuit of optimum care, improved patient outcomes, and the translation of effective public health practices. With the emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration, this manuscript aims to provide insight into how one might create a comprehensive framework for chronic disease prevention and management..
